MOTOR CAR (EMISSIONS STANDARDS) ORDER 2004

The Minister of Tourism and Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 53A(2)(a) of the Motor Car Act 1951, makes the following Order:

Citation

1 This Order may be cited as the Motor Car (Emissions Standards) Order 2004.

Approval of emissions standards

2 The following emissions standards are hereby approved, that is to say, the emissions standards in respect of motor cars set from time to time—

(a) by the Automobile Standards Internationalization Center of Japan and contained in articles 31, 31-2 and 58 of the Ministry of Transport Ordinance No. 67 of 1951 as may be from time to time amended;

(b) by the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States and contained in—

(i) the Clean Air Act 42 U.S.C. 7041 et. Seq.; and

(ii) title 40 and Parts 86 and 88 to 90 of the Code of Federal Regulations; as may be from time to time amended; and

(c) by the European Council and contained in the Official Journal of the European Communities (hereinafter referred to as "OJ") as follows—

(vii) European Council Directive 97/68/EC of 16 December 1997, OJ L59/1 of 27 February 1998;

(viii) European Council Directive 99/96/EC of 13 December 1999, OJ L44/1 of 16 December 2000;

(ix) European Council Directive 2000/25/EC of 22 May 2000, OJ L173/1 of 12 July 2000, as may be from time to time amended.
