PUBLIC HEALTH (COVID-19) EMERGENCY ORDER 2022

WHEREAS the World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic; AND WHEREAS COVID-19, which is a communicable disease of the first category under the Public Health Act 1949, is an unprecedented and severe threat to public health in Bermuda; AND WHEREAS it is necessary in the interests of public health to take extraordinary measures to prevent, control and suppress COVID-19; AND WHEREAS the Public Health (COVID-19) Emergency Order 2021 ceases to have effect at 6am on 26 September 2022; The Minister responsible for health, after consultation with the Chief Medical Officer, and in exercise of the power conferred by section 107A of the Public Health Act 1949, makes the following Order:

Citation

1 This Order may be cited as the Public Health (COVID-19) Emergency Order 2022.

Declaration of public health emergency

2 It is hereby declared that there is a public health emergency in Bermuda.

3. Commencement and duration

(1) This Order shall come into effect at 6am on 26 September 2022.

(2) This Order shall cease to have effect at 6am on 30 November 2022 unless, in accordance with section 107A(3) and (4) of the Public Health Act 1949, it is extended for

further periods not exceeding 60 days (beginning on the date on which it would otherwise cease to have effect) by order made subject to the affirmative resolution procedure. [Paragraph 3(2) amended by BR 107 / 2022 para. 2 effective 24 October 2022]
