BERMUDA STATUTORY INSTRUMENT

PUBLIC HEALTH (MOSQUITO CONTROL) REGULATIONS 1930 [made on 12 August 1930 under section 51 of the Public Health Act 1930 [repealed] and brought into operation on 4 May 1931]

1 The owner of any marsh land shall take effective measures to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes by filling, oiling, trenching or such other means as the Minister may direct.

2 Any person may, by order of the Minister, be granted permission, subject to such conditions as the Minister may prescribe, to breed mosquitoes for scientific purposes in connection with the administration of the Public Health Act 1949 [title 11 item 1]. [the general functions of the Board of Health with respect to the supervision and control of public health declared by the Public Health Act 1930 are substantially reenacted in section 6 of the Public Health Act 1949. Section 9 of the Public Health Act 1930 however laid a specific duty on the Board "to exterminate or diminish the number of disease carrying fauna" in Bermuda. By section 1 "fauna" was defined as including mosquitoes]
