RECORDING OF DOCUMENTS REGULATIONS 1965

[made 1 June 1965 under section 5 of the Registrar-General (Recording of Documents) Act 1955 and brought into operation on 1 June 1956 by GN 151/1956]

Citation

1 These Regulations may be cited as the Recording of Documents Regulations 1956.

2. Requirements for registration

(1) All documents submitted to the Registrar-General for recording or registration under the Registrar-General (Recording of Documents) Act 1955 [title 28 item 2] shall conform to the following requirements—

(a) they shall be on paper the measurements of which are fourteen inches by eight and one-half inches;

(b) the paper shall be twenty-eight pound ledger stock;

(c) the paper shall be punched to accommodate a four prong binder, four and three-sixteenths of an inch centre to centre inside prongs and eight inches centre to centre outside prongs;

(d) they shall be in typescript or print;

(e) they shall be prepared as head to head, that is to say when inserted in binders each reverse folio must read in the same head to tail sequence as the face folio;

(f) they shall be in a clean and untorn condition; and

(g) they shall have a margin of one and a half inches on the left hand side of each face of each folio running from head to tail.

(3) The form of documents in respect of memoranda relating to mortgages shall be in Form A in the Schedule, and the headings on the said form shall be spaced in conformity with the specimen copy obtainable from the office of the Registrar-General. Authorised officers

3 Authorized officers for the purpose of the Registrar-General (Recording of Documents) Act 1955 [title 28 item 2] shall be the Senior Clerk in the office of the Registrar- General or any other person authorized in writing by the Registrar-General to the extent of such authorization.

Metric measurements

4 All measurements in documents, including survey plans made after 31 December 1979, and submitted to the Registrar-General for recording or registration under the Registrar-General (Recording of Documents) Act 1955 [title 28 item 2] shall be expressed in the International System of Units within the meaning of the Weights and Measures Act 1975 [title 28 item 17], that is to say in accordance with the metric system of measurement: Provided that—

(a) any such document in which measurements expressed therein are determined or derived from survey plans of land, which plans were in existence prior to 1 January 1980, shall be permitted to be recorded or registered notwithstanding that such measurements are expressed in Imperial measures;

(b) any such document in existence prior to 1 January 1980 in which measurements are expressed in Imperial measures shall also be permitted to be recorded or registered.
