ROAD TRAFFIC (SWING BRIDGE VEHICLE RESTRICTION) ORDER 2015

Whereas the Minister responsible for works and engineering, being satisfied that restrictions on the use of Swing Bridge, Mullet Bay Road, St George’s Parish, are necessary to avoid endangering the safety of the vehicles or persons thereon, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 4(1), 7(2A) and 7(2B) of the Road Traffic Act 1947, makes the following Order:

Citation

1 This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Swing Bridge Vehicle Restriction) Order

2015.

Maximum gross vehicle weight prohibition

2 Subject to paragraph 3, the driving of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross vehicle weight of ten (10) tonnes on Swing Bridge, Mullet Bay Road, St. George’s Parish, is hereby prohibited.

3. Minister may issue permit to vehicles exceeding maximum gross vehicle weight

(1) The Minister responsible for works and engineering may issue a permit, subject to such conditions as he may think fit to impose, permitting a vehicle exceeding a maximum gross vehicle weight of ten (10) tonnes to be driven on Swing Bridge if he is satisfied that the vehicle may safely be so driven, and such permit may be revoked, or the conditions varied, as the Minister thinks fit.

(2) A vehicle with a permit under subparagraph (1) may be driven over Swing Bridge if, and only if—

(a) it is so driven in accordance with the conditions of the permit; and

(b) the permit is, at that time, in the vehicle.

Variation of speed limit for all traffic

4 The speed limits fixed by section 7(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1947 are hereby varied to restrict all traffic using Swing Bridge, Mullet Bay Road, St George’s Parish, to a maximum speed of 15 kilometres per hour.
