ASSISTANT REGISTRAR-GENERAL (POWERS AND DUTIES) ACT 1955

Interpretation
1 In this Act “the Assistant Registrar-General” means any person who is the substantive holder of, or a person for the time being duly appointed to act in, the office of Assistant Registrar-General or, as the case may be, the office of Assistant Registrar and Registrar-General.
2. Performance of functions of Registrar-General by Assistant Registrar-General
(1) Subject to such directions as may from time to time be given by the Minister for the time being responsible for the Registry General, any power conferred or duty imposed upon the Registrar-General by or under any Act may lawfully and validly be exercised or discharged by the Assistant Registrar-General.
(2) Any power or duty exercised or discharged by the Assistant Registrar-General as aforesaid shall, for the purposes of any provision of law, be deemed to have been exercised or discharged by the Registrar-General. [Section 2 subsection (1) amended by BR 5/2011 para.5 effective 25 February 2011]
