BERMUDA EDUCATORS COUNCIL (EXEMPTION) (2016 TO 2017 SCHOOL YEAR) ORDER 2016

The Minister responsible for education, in exercise of the power conferred by sections 5(1) and 20(3) of the Bermuda Educators Council Act 2002, makes the following Order:

Citation

1 This Order may be cited as the Bermuda Educators Council (Exemption) (2016 to

2017 School Year) Order 2016.

Interpretation

2 In this Order— “Act” means the Bermuda Educators Council Act 2002; “Council” has the meaning given in section 3 of the Act; “school year” means the 2016 to 2017 school year.

Exemption of specified persons

3 With respect to the school year, the persons whose names are set out in the first column of the Schedule—

(a) are exempt from the restriction imposed by section 4(1) of the Act; and

(b) may take up employment as educators at a school within the knowledge or skill specified in the second column of the Schedule, subject to the circumstance or condition set out in the third column of the Schedule.

Registration of exempted persons

4 The Council shall enter the names as set out in the Schedule in a separate part of the Register headed “Exemptions” and, for the purposes of the Act, the persons exempted by this Order are deemed to be registered for the school year.

To submit to the Council by 29 June 2017 documentary evidence of enrolment in a teaching certification programme in order to be considered for any further exemptions. Evans, Aaron Physical Education Teacher Exempt for the school year. Farnsworth, Troy Adaptive Physical Education Exempt for the school year. Teacher Hall, Wesley Music Teacher Exempt from 1 January 2017 to

29 June 2017. Mills-Pitcher, Simona Bible Studies Teacher Exempt for the school year. Richardson, Roy Music Teacher Exempt until 31 December 2016. Simmons, Leroy Music Teacher Exempt for the school year.

To submit to the Council by 29 June 2017 documentary evidence of enrolment in a teaching certification programme in order to be considered for any further exemptions. Tavares, Tonae Learning Support Teacher Exempt for the school year. Thompson, Chauntee Spanish Teacher Exempt until 31 December 2016. Toogood, Carolyn Art Teacher Exempt for the school year.
