BERMUDA EDUCATORS COUNCIL (EXEMPTION) (2018 TO 2019 SCHOOL YEAR) ORDER 2018

The Minister responsible for education, acting on the advice of the Exemption Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 5 and 20(3) of the Bermuda Educators Council Act 2002, makes the following Order:

Citation

1 This Order may be cited as the Bermuda Educators Council (Exemption) (2018 to

2019 School Year) Order 2018.

Interpretation

2 In this Order, “school year” means the 2018 to 2019 school year.

Exemption of specified persons

3 With respect to the school year, the persons whose names are set out in the first column of the Schedule—

(a) are exempt from the restriction imposed by section 4(1) of the Act; and

(b) may take up employment at schools as educators who possess the knowledge and skills specified in the second column of the Schedule, subject to the circumstances or conditions set out in the third column of the Schedule.

Registration of exempted persons

4 The Council shall enter the names set out in the Schedule in a separate part of the register headed “Exemptions” and, for the purposes of the Act, the persons exempted by this Order are deemed to be registered for the school year.

Furbert, Akeyla Physical Education Teacher To submit to the Council documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme by the end of the school year.

Hayward, Wendell Music Teacher Exempt until 28 June 2019.

Lambert, Tara Physical Education Teacher To submit to the Council documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme by the end of the school year.

Lee-Grimmond, Foreign Language Teacher Exempt for the school year. Janelle

Lim, Ian Physical Education Teacher Exempt for the school year.

Malcolm, Charea English Language Teacher Exempt until 28 June 2019.

Mouchette, Juma Physical Education Teacher Exempt until 28 June 2019.
