BERMUDA EDUCATORS COUNCIL (EXEMPTION) (2019 TO 2020 SCHOOL YEAR) ORDER 2019

The Minister responsible for education, in exercise of the power conferred by sections 5(1) and 20(3) of the Bermuda Educators Council Act 2002, makes the following Order:

Citation

1 This Order may be cited as the Bermuda Educators Council (Exemption) (2019 to

2020 School Year) Order 2019.

Interpretation

2 In this Order— “Act” means the Bermuda Educators Council Act 2002; “Council” has the meaning given in section 3 of the Act; “school year” means the 2019 to 2020 school year.

Exemption of specified persons

3 With respect to the school year, the persons whose names are set out in the first column of the Schedule—

(a) are exempt from the restriction imposed by section 4(1) of the Act; and

(b) may take up employment as educators at a school within the knowledge or skill specified in the second column of the Schedule, subject to the circumstance or condition set out in the third column of the Schedule.

Registration of exempted persons

4 The Council shall enter the names as set out in the Schedule in a separate part of the Register headed “Exemptions” and, for the purposes of the Act, the persons exempted by this Order are deemed to be registered for the school year.

Anderson, Marguerite French Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date. Bean, Rashae Music Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date. Brangman, Donte Physical Education Teacher To submit to the Council documentary evidence of completion of a teacher certification programme by the end of the school year. Burchall, Colwyn Primary School Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date.

Furbert, Akeyla Physical Education Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date. Hayward, Jarreau Social Studies Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date. Hill, Torian Spanish Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date. Spence, Sia Drama Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date. Whitter, Shar-Dae Mathematics Teacher Exempted until 30 June 2020, on the condition that documentary evidence of enrolment in or completion of a teacher certification programme is submitted to the Council by that date.
