BERMUDA STATUTORY INSTRUMENT

BUILDING AUTHORITY (PUBLIC BUILDINGS) REGULATIONS

[made under section 101 of the Board of Trade Act 1930 [repealed] and brought into operation on 1 July 1930]

ARRANGEMENT OF REGULATIONS

1 Licensing of places of public entertainment

Licensing of places of public entertainment

1 No person shall use any building outside a municipal area as a theatre, cinema, dance hall, concert hall, or for any other public exhibition, entertainment or performance, without a licence from the Building Authority.

Conditions

2 Any such licence may prescribe—

(a) the number of persons to be allowed in the building during any performance;

(b) the means of egress and ingress; and

(c) the precautions to be taken to provide for the safety of persons attending any such performance.

Suspension or cancellation of licence

3 Any such licence may be suspended or cancelled at any time by notice from the Building Authority; and during such time as any such licence is suspended or cancelled, any person using the building for which such licence was granted for any public exhibition, performance or entertainment shall be liable to be prosecuted.

Public morality

4 If in the opinion of the Building Authority any public, exhibition, entertainment or performance being held or proposed to be held in any such licensed building is contrary to public morality or the public good, the Building Authority may stop or prohibit such exhibition, performance or entertainment.

Two year maximum; renewal

5 Licences granted under these Regulations shall not be for any period greater than two years, but may be renewable from time to time at the discretion of the Building Authority. [Note: These Regulations were originally entitled "The Board of Trade (Public Buildings) Regulations, 1930" and their title was altered by 1962:1]
