Minister to carry out ship channel improvements listed in Schedule
1 The Minister responsible for marine and ports services (hereinafter referred to as “the Minister”) shall arrange for the employment of the rockbreaker, and other vessels and boats, apparatus, appliances, plant, machinery, fittings and other articles from time to time acquired for use in connection with the dredging and deepening operations in Bermuda upon the channel improvement specified in the Schedule as the Minister considers advisable and practicable. SCHEDULE
CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS
1 Maintenance of existing ship channels, other than those hereinafter mentioned in this Schedule, at existing depths.
2 The widening of the ship channel in the Port of Hamilton between Two Rock Passage and Dundonald Channel at No. 44 Buoy progressively from the existing width of the channel at Two Rock Passage to a maximum width of five hundred feet at No. 44 Buoy, and the deepening of that part of the ship channel to a depth of thirty feet at mean low water.
3 When weather conditions forbid the use of the rockbreaker and other dredging plant in that part of the ship channel mentioned in paragraph 2, then the same shall be employed to deepen the Town Cut Channel at its present width to a depth of thirty-three feet at mean low water, and in the building of a training bank on the southern side of the said channel set back to such a distance from the southern edge of the channel as shall not interfere with the future widening thereof.
