Interpretation
1 In this Act โ "court" means the Supreme Court, any court of summary jurisdiction, a special court, a coroner's court and any tribunal or person exercising judicial powers under any provision of law.
2. Rules prescribing fees
(1) The Chief Justice may from time to time make rules of court providing for the payment of fees in relation to the performance of any function by a court or any officer thereof and for the payment of fees for any matters incidental to the performance of any such function.

(2) Rules made under subsection (1) may provide for the time and manner of the payment of fees and for all matters incidental to their due collection and accounting.
(3) All sums received by a court or an officer thereof shall be accounted for in such manner as may be prescribed in the rules and shall, unless the rules otherwise specify, be paid into the Consolidated Fund.
3. Rules providing for payment of witness fees and expenses
(1) The Chief Justice may from time to time make rules of court providing for the payment out of the Consolidated Fund, which is hereby charged with the expenditure, ofโ
(a) witness fees and expenses including payments to medical practitioners and expert witnesses;
(b) fees to the Chairman and members of any court other than to a judge or magistrate.
(2) Any rules made under subsection (1) may provide for the manner in which any payment is to be certified or effected.
Rules providing for taxation of costs
4 The power to make rules under this Act shall include the power to make rules of court providing what fees may be taxed and allowed to a party in proceedings before any court.
Parliamentary scrutiny of rules
5 The affirmative resolution procedure shall apply to rules of court made under this Act.
Powers under this Act are in addition to other powers
6 The powers conferred by this Act shall be in addition to any specific or general power conferred on any authority under any other provision of law and such power shall be construed as being without prejudice to the powers conferred by this Act.
