1. Letting of Government House lands

(1) The Minister charged with responsibility for Works and Engineering may from time to time let or lease for any period not exceeding three years such part of the lands held with Government House as the Governor for the time being may sanction and on such terms and conditions as the Governor may approve.

(2) Every such letting or lease shall be made by the Minister charged with responsibility for Works and Engineering by his official designation, which shall include his successor in office for the time being, and all actions, suits and other legal proceedings brought or taken with respect to any matter arising out of any such letting or lease shall be brought or taken by or against the Minister charged with responsibility for Works and Engineering by his official designation only.

Collection of rents and payment to Governor

2 The Minister charged with responsibility for Works and Engineering shall receive and collect all rents payable in respect of any land let or leased under the authority of this Act, and shall, after

deducting therefrom all necessary disbursements made by him in connection with any such letting or lease, pay the remainder of such rent to the Governor at such intervals as the Governor may from time to time direct, to be applied in such manner as the Governor may see fit towards the upkeep of those portions of the Government House lands which are not let or leased under the authority of this Act.

Rents during absence

3 Whenever the Governor is absent from Bermuda on leave, or whenever there is a vacancy in the office of Governor, the Minister charged with responsibility for Works and Engineering shall apply the whole, or such part as may be necessary, of all rents received during such absence or vacancy in or towards the upkeep of those portions of the Government House lands which are not let or leased under the authority of this Act; and the remainder (if any) of such rents shall be paid by the Minister charged with responsibility for Works and Engineering to the Governor on his return from leave or to the next Governor, as the case may be, to be applied by the Governor in the manner provided by section 2.

Audited account

4 The Minister charged with responsibility for Works and Engineering shall furnish to the Governor with each payment made to him under this Act an account showing in detail how the amount paid has been arrived at, such account having been previously duly audited by the Auditor.
