BERMUDA STATUTORY INSTRUMENT

GOVERNMENT HOUSING AREAS (CEDAR PARK, PROSPECT AND TOP SQUARE, ST. GEORGE) (RULES OF CONDUCT) REGULATIONS 1975
[made under section 7 of the Government Housing Areas Act 1971 [title 29 item 4] and brought into operation on 22 February 1975]

Application of Regulations
1 These Regulations shall apply within the housing areas defined in the Government Housing Areas (Cedar Park and Prospect) Declaration Order 1971 [title 29 item 4(a)] and the Government Housing Area (Top Square, St. George) Declaration Order 1974 [title 29 item 4(c)].
2. Offences
(1) No person shall within the housing area to which these Regulations apply—
(a) affix or expose to view any placard, announcement, advertisement, name or sign upon the external walls or windows of any structure without the consent in writing of the Bermuda Housing Corporation:

Provided that nothing in this paragraph shall prevent the fixing at the door of any premises of a small name plate having lettering not exceeding one and one half inches in height;
(b) play or use or operate or permit to be played or operated any piano, or other musical instrument, radio, gramophone, loudspeaker, or other similar device to the annoyance, discomfort or inconvenience of any other person;
(c) without the consent in writing of the Bermuda Housing Corporation fix any radio or television aerial to the exterior of the premises or in any part of any garden or yard;
(d) keep any animals of whatsoever nature in excess of two domestic pets;
(e) make or permit to be made, any loud, unseemly or unusual noise or profanity to the annoyance, discomfort or inconvenience of any other person;
(f) in any road or space used in common by persons residing in the area, play any game to the annoyance, discomfort or inconvenience of any other person;
(g) other than in his own garden, without the consent in writing of the Bermuda Housing Corporation, destroy or remove any tree or shrub or make any excavation or remove any soil;
(h) other than in his own garden, without the consent in writing of the Bermuda Housing Corporation, dump any material;
(i) deposit any litter of whatsoever nature;
(j) in any road or space used in common by persons residing in the area light any fire;
(k) permit or allow any noxious or unpleasant smell to be emitted from any premises;
(l) carry on, other than with the consent in writing of the Bermuda Housing Corporation, or on any area specially leased for the purpose, any manufacture, trade or industry;
(m) permit or allow any premises to be overcrowded;
(n) behave in an indecent or unseemly manner:

(o) ride or drive any vehicle on or over—
(i) pedestrian ways or footpaths;
(ii) any other land, not being land situated within the curtilage of a building nor being a vehicular road.
(2) For the purpose of paragraph (1)— "domestic pet" means a cat or a cage bird; "overcrowded" shall have the meaning assigned to it in section
137 of the Public Health Act 1949 [title 11 item 1], as read with the Second Schedule thereof.
(3) Any person who contravenes these Regulations commits an offence: Punishment on summary conviction: a fine of $100 or, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, a fine of $200.
