BERMUDA STATUTORY INSTRUMENT

MARINE BOARD (NAVIGATION) (SHIP CHANNELS) REGULATIONS 1962

[made under section 8 of the Board of Trade Act 1930 [repealed] and brought into operation on 3 May 1938 now deemed to have been made under the Marine Board Act]

ARRANGEMENT OF REGULATIONS

1 Duty of master of inbound ship as to reception of signals

Duty of master of inbound ship as to reception of signals

1 It shall be the duty of the master of every ship, fitted with a wireless telegraphic apparatus, while proceeding through the Main Ship Channel from Five Fathom Hole to Hamilton, to make provision for the reception of wireless messages from any other ship within the territorial waters of Bermuda, relative to the position, movements and navigation of such ship.

2 It shall be the duty of every pilot in charge of a ship intending to leave Hamilton Harbour, before proceeding to get under way, to ascertain from the master whether the wireless signal prescribed by the Marine and Ports Authority (Hamilton Channels) Regulations 1967 [title 22 item 3(o)] has been made.

3 It shall be the duty of every pilot in charge of a ship proceeding through the Main Ship Channel from Five Fathom Hole to Hamilton, to call the attention of the master to the necessity of making provision for

the reception of wireless signals from other ships relative to the position, movements and navigation of other ships in the territorial waters of Bermuda.
